ChatGPT can now take action inside ServiceNow, not just answer questions. ServiceNow is business software that big companies use to run IT help desks, security and other daily work. On October 28, ServiceNow and OpenAI announced a bigger partnership.

The main news is a new ServiceNow plugin for ChatGPT. It lets workers go from asking a question to getting the job done in the same chat. For example, an IT worker can find similar past problems, check how risky a change is, and update the right records without leaving ChatGPT. ServiceNow still does the actual work in the background, with the company's own rules and approvals.

The two companies are also building security tools together. A scan of a company's code can turn up 10,000 to 100,000 weak spots or more. The hard part is knowing which ones to fix first, and the new tools aim to help with that.

More is on the way. OpenAI's coding tool, Codex, will be added to ServiceNow's app-building tools. ServiceNow also plans a voice feature. A risk worker could describe an AI project out loud, and an AI helper would fill in the assessment form.

Each company will also use the other's tools. OpenAI plans to run parts of its own operations on ServiceNow. ServiceNow plans to give its employees ChatGPT Work and Codex.

The plugin is available today. The security tools are expected in early access in January 2027.

What this does not mean. It does not mean every part of this deal works today. Only the ChatGPT plugin is available now. The voice feature, the security tools and Codex are expected in 2027, and ServiceNow warns that its plans could change.
