NVIDIA will invest $3 billion in Meta as the two expand work on Meta's Muse AI
Meta will also use more NVIDIA chips for its next AI agents, and the two may team up on tools that keep agents safe.
NVIDIA will invest $3 billion in Meta. The two companies shared the news in a press release on October 27.
The deal is about Muse, Meta's family of AI models and AI agents. An AI agent is software that can do tasks for you, not just answer questions. NVIDIA and Meta say they will work together to make Muse run faster and cost less to train and use.
Meta also plans to use more NVIDIA hardware. That includes NVIDIA's newest Vera Rubin chips and Vera processors for its next AI agents. Meta will also add NVIDIA networking gear to move data between its machines more efficiently.
The two companies may work together on safety, too. They will consider NVIDIA tools that help run AI agents safely and watch how agents behave.
The money will go into a sale of new Meta shares, which the press release calls an equity offering. NVIDIA's own notes say the investment is still expected, and that it may depend on closing conditions.
NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang said "AI agents represent a new computing paradigm". Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said "Muse is how we bring personal superintelligence to everyone."
The companies say the move reflects popular demand for useful AI agents. Meta says its Muse models and agents have seen surging consumer downloads since launch.
