ChatGPT will test picture ads while people make images, starting this month in the US
OpenAI says the ads will be clearly labeled, kept apart from the image you asked for, and will not change ChatGPT's answers.

OpenAI is adding a new kind of ad to ChatGPT: ads made of pictures. The company says the pictures can show a product, show it in use, or show the experience it makes possible.
The first test will run while people create images in ChatGPT. OpenAI says these ads will be clearly labeled and kept apart from the image being made. It also says ads do not change the answers ChatGPT gives. Testing starts later this month in the US with a small first group of advertisers.
OpenAI says ChatGPT reaches 1.2 billion people each week. The company says ads help it bring AI to more people than paid plans alone could.
Businesses also get more ways to check if their ads work. OpenAI listed new links with tools that send sales data from a company's own systems to ChatGPT Ads. The early numbers come from these partners, not from an outside study. One partner said WeightWatchers paid 15.3% less to win each customer than with its usual mix of search ads. Another said 93% of the visitors a leather brand got from these ads were new to it.
OpenAI says its rules try to keep ads out of emotional or sensitive chats. Some brands can also block phrases they do not want their ads to appear next to. Two outside firms are setting up tests of how well these safety rules work, without seeing private chats.
