Apple's new MacBook Pro gets the M6 chip and up to 24 hours of battery life
Apple says graphics are up to 30 percent faster than with M5. The laptop starts at $1,999, with pre-orders from October 28.

Apple put a new chip in its 14-inch MacBook Pro. The chip is called M6, and Apple announced the laptop on October 27.
A chip is the part that does a computer's work. Apple says M6 has a 12-core CPU, the part that runs your apps, and a 12-core GPU, the part that draws graphics. Each one has two more cores than before.
Apple says graphics are up to 30 percent faster than with the older M5 chip. AI tasks that run on the laptop itself are up to 25 percent faster. The laptop also has what Apple calls a Dual 16-core Neural Engine, a part built for AI work.
Battery life is up to 24 hours. Apple calls that the longest ever in a Mac.
The laptop starts at $1,999 in the U.S. College students and teachers can get it for $1,899 with education savings. It comes in space black and silver.
Pre-orders start October 28. The first laptops arrive starting Friday, November 6.
Apple also announced a new iMac with the M6 chip on the same day.
Keep in mind that the speed numbers come from Apple's own tests. Apple also says battery life varies by use and configuration, so results at home can be different.
Open it and check the claim yourself. That is the point.
