Apple makes its first touchscreen MacBook Pro, starting at $2,899
The new laptop also gets a new tandem OLED screen and the Dynamic Island, and it arrives on November 6.

Apple has introduced a new MacBook Pro with a touchscreen. Apple says it is the first time a Mac has Touch, so people can work with their content right on the screen, from moving 3D models to playing musical instruments.
The new laptop uses a display Apple calls PROLED XDR. It is a tandem OLED screen, which means it has two layers of pixels that light themselves. Apple calls it the world's best laptop display. It reaches up to 2000 nits of peak brightness and has a 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio. In plain words, the highlights get very bright and the blacks stay very deep.
Apple's Dynamic Island, the live status area first seen on iPhone, now comes to the Mac too. It holds Spotlight, Live Activities and Siri AI.
The laptop comes in 14-inch and 16-inch models with Apple's M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. Apple says it lasts up to 24 hours on battery and is thinner and much lighter than before.
In the U.S., the 14-inch model with M5 Pro starts at $2,899. The 16-inch model with M5 Pro starts at $3,399. Models with the faster M5 Max chip start at $4,499.
People can pre-order starting October 28 in 30 countries and regions, including the U.S. Apple says the laptops will begin arriving to customers and stores on Friday, November 6.
Open it and check the claim yourself. That is the point.
