Amazon launches five new Alexa devices, led by a $499.99 Echo Show 16 with night vision
The lineup includes a new Echo Dot, a speaker with a camera, a bedside clock that senses light sleep and an Alexa photo frame.

Amazon has announced five new Alexa devices. Each one comes with the latest version of Alexa. Amazon says this Alexa holds more natural conversations and can handle requests that take several steps.
The biggest is the all-new Echo Show 16. It has a 16-inch high-definition screen that Amazon says is nearly 40% thinner, and it has Fire TV built in. For the first time on an Echo Show, the camera has night vision, so owners can check in on their home with Live View day or night. Preorders start at $499.99, and Amazon is taking $100 off for people who preorder now.
The new Echo Dot is Amazon's small speaker. For the first time, it has a built-in smart home hub, so it can connect to lights, locks and thermostats right out of the box. It ships today for $99.99.
Echo Studio with Home Camera adds a camera to Amazon's best-sounding speaker. Alexa can then help with what it sees, like recognizing a box of cereal so you can reorder it. It costs $249.99.
Echo Time is a smart clock for the nightstand, with no camera. Amazon says it can sense when you are in lighter sleep and wake you within 10 to 60 minutes of your alarm, with nothing to wear. It costs $199.99.
The fifth device is the Alexa Photo Frame. Amazon calls it the first photo frame with Alexa built in. It pulls pictures from Amazon Photos onto a 10-inch touchscreen. Amazon did not list its price in this announcement.
Open it and check the claim yourself. That is the point.
